My main priority in teaching music is to share my excitement about music with my students. This is done through lessons designed with the individual student's interests and goals in mind. I have experience teaching just about all styles of music to students of all levels, ages, and musical backgrounds. My performance experience is also extensive and diverse. I have a master's degree in jazz performance from the esteemed New England Conservatory, where I was able to study with some of the most important music educators in the world. I am more than happy to pass on this knowledge in an articulate, easy to understand fashion. Examples of topics covered in lessons include:

-instrumental technique: the better you can play your instrument, the more music you can play and the better it will sound

-music theory: it's helpful to understand why certain notes and rhythms work when others don't. This is simpler than you may think.

-eartraining: many musicians rely too much on theory and reading music. To unlock you musical potential, your musical listening skills must be developed.

-repetoire: Duke Ellington said, "There is only two kinds of music: good music and bad music." I'll help you find the good music and learn it one song at a time.

-composition: if the student is interested, composition is a fun and satisfying way to unlock creativity. It's also a good way to develop theory and listening skills.
